This book somehow manages to swing wildly back and forth between being so basic that it's actually ridiculous, and on the very next page or chapter it gets so highly technical that you'd need a masters in finance to even begin to understand what the authors point was in including it. I gave it several tries to finish the book but each time I picked it up I noticed that I was really having to force myself through it and i never did get into reading it, which is a shame because this is a topic I am actually very interested in learning more about and I'm an avid reader to boot.

They do manage to cover a good amount of some solid common sense advice for beginners which is the only reason I gave it three stars, but those occasional small gems are few and far between and are sprinkled throughout the book seemingly at random so good luck trying to find them if you don't have 15 hours to commit to reading it basically from cover to cover.

I first came across this book in a library in Indianapolis. So I picked up a copy. This book covers pretty much everything you need to know about Currency Trading including technical analysis, fundamentals, psychology, and the book even digs into details about the actual currency pairs.

I would say this book has great breadth, but not a lot of depth. For example, if you want to learn more about technical analysis, you will need to pick up another book because his coverage on indicators is pretty meager.

Actually, I felt his coverage of fundamentals was more in-depth than technical analysis. You will find descriptions of patterns without an image to go along with it! The book is lighter fare—so you should be able to digest ten or more pages in a single sitting. Since I have read a number of other books, a good part of this book is just filler for me. Yet Brian does offer some specific insights and tidbits that augment my knowledge from other books; so I did read this book cover to cover.

For example, he said, “don't adjust your take-profit targets without also adjusting your stop-loss order in the same direction. ” This is the type of tidbit that I simply hadn't thought about before. Whether I actually choose to do this is not the point—the point is that I will give it some consideration. Thus, the breadth of Currency Trading For Dummies is worth the read, even if you have read a number of more “advanced” books. Brian does work for FOREX. com, but he point this fact out a few times, and I didn't see any heavy pushing or the “big sell.

” There may be a conflict of interest or bias for someone who hasn't chosen a broker—I don't really know because I chose a broker before reading the book. My opinion: definitely worth the “used” price. I wouldn't use this as a “first” book for ForEx. I would go with Chen for that. But consider this for your “second” book.

As a beginner to forex this gave a great overview of what it seems like everything to know. They went into detail at times but mostly general rules of thumb as expected because there are other books dedicated to one of the many subjects they touched on. When they did go into deep detail I wish they had more or better visual of the charts because I got kinda lost and started to skim over some parts.

Although it probably makes more sense to intermediate traders with more background. I bought 4 other books to learn about Forex, but none of those 4 books helped. it's a great introduction to currency trading and doesn't shoot around the question of what actually affects the market, and what the daily process of trading currencies is, without making it inaccessible. it also includes great tips on how to find a trading style and gives a good basis for technical analyses. A great book to get yourself introduced to the FOREX market.
